Mindfulness meditation is a practice that encourages you to focus on the present moment with intense awareness of your sensations and feelings. It involves being fully present, without judgment or interpretation. 

 

Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body. 


It combines the art and science of meditation with the practice of mindfulness, which is a mental state that involves being fully focused on "the here and now" so you can acknowledge and accept your thoughts, feelings, and sensations in a non-judgmental setting.


Mindfulness techniques can vary, but in general mindfulness meditation involves deep breathing and awareness of mind and body. It is a proven safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions.


Dr. Dees has been helping patients and clients for more than 20 years in practicing mindfulness meditation. It is not time consuming, and offers benefits. You will become aware of your breath while you notice your thoughts and become comfortable with yourself as you bear witness to these thoughts.

Here is how you can practice mindfulness:


  1. Pay Attention: Take a moment to experience your surroundings using all your senses.
  2. Live in the Moment: Approach each activity with open, accepting attention, without distractions from the past or worries about the future.
  3. Find Joy in Simplicity: Appreciate simple pleasures and treat yourself kindly.
  4. Focus on Breathing: Concentrate on the rhythm of your breath moving in and out of your body. Even a minute of mindful breathing can be beneficial.
  5. Body Scan Meditation: Slowly and deliberately focus on each part of your body, from toe to head or head to toe. Notice any sensations, emotions, or thoughts associated with each body part.
